School Inaugurated by KRDF in Upper Namnotta

KRDF, a UK based charity working for the survivors of the last years devastating earthquake has built and inaugurated a primary school in Namnota near Rawalakot city of Azad Kashmir. Around 500 people attended the opening ceremony of this most needed school. The function took place in the premises of the newly built school. President of KRDF in Azad Kashmir, Advocate Saghir Ahmed inaugurated the school.

Namnotta School is one of the projects, which KRDF had launched after last years earthquake. Luton Council of Multi Faiths has funded this entire school project.

Speaking on this occasion, Zafar Sharif Chief Coordinator of KRDF thanked his colleagues in UK, Kashmir and elsewhere, who worked hard for providing the support.  He said that this school building is totally earthquake proof and has been built keeping in mind the geographical situation of the area.  He said that this is the first project which has been completed by any NGO in the region since the earthquake struck and KRDF is proud of it.

He said that KRDF has provided one teacher for this school while the government will provide further two. KRDF also provided one computer and promised to provide 3 further computers, uniforms for the students and the necessary furniture for the school.

Zafar Sharif said that KRDF has started a whole series of building schools across the earthquake-affected areas. After explaining in detail the background of KRDF and its relief work, he stressed upon the people to continue supporting KRDF in the future. 

He thanked LCOF for funding this project and said this school will serve as a bridge between the communities.

The programme was attended by Director of Education Poonch Mr Ashaat Hussain, MLA Sardar Yaqoob, M Saghir Khan Advocate, President Bar Rawalakot, Sardar Shoaib political Secretary JKLF.

Keys were handed to Subedar Gul Hussain who is head of the school committee.
